Scarlet Lite

Scarlet has arrived from California!
I was telling the young gal (barely 14'2 hands tall!) that we had a lot in
common. Only difference is, I am a California native, and she was born in
Canada. Still, I feel a connection.

A wonderful construction worker is here putting in new vinyl flooring in
my kitchen and bathrooms. I hear my mother saying, "Would you like some
coffee?" to him...she always served her construction workers sandwiches
and coffee and sweets when they came. Every day there is something to
remind me of her.............tears............

He arrived without incident and is calmly munching fresh hay in the barn. Pictures to be posted tomorrow - watch for them!

Still Need Financial Help

Hello everyone!

We are so pleased to have been able to save Topville Dynamite.
We have not picked him up yet due to several issues:

1) Two donations that we counted on for his bail have not yet been received
2) ASAP needed to write a check to the quarantine person out east for the
lay-up on two kill lot horses who were saved due to others' contributions
3) We have a need for a vet call to inspect Dynamite, draw coggins, and
do health inspection within 10 days of his arrival at the farm.
4) We do not have physical room at our farm for Dynamite unless we place
a horse who is waiting for a home here.

MacDominant and Taz are the two most adoptable horses here, but so far no
one has committed to either. If you have room for either of these fine
boys, please let me know. Taz is recovering from an injury to his front
leg resulting in a bowed tendon. He was attacked by another gelding and
run into a panel, resulting in the injury. He needs TLC and someone
willing to wrap his leg on a daily basis.

Please let me know if you can help! Keep in mind, in just several weeks
we will be forced to bring back five horses from the donated pasture down
the road. We cannot afford to maintain all horses here and need your
help!

According to one person he was well known at the track. I have attempted
to contact the last listed owner by phone and her phone is disconnected. Trying all avenues to help him - stay posted for more details!!!

Amish Horse Has Until Monday

I went to see Dynomite last night up at the Amish man's farm. He is
thin, and was recently in a buggy wreck (4 wheeler almost collided with
horse and buggy), so he has multiple scrapes and cuts all over him.

He has a kind and gentle eye, and really perked up when he saw me walking
towards him almost like he recognized me. He has bleached out being in
the sun, and one shoe has fallen off. Since he is not currently being
used he is "out to pasture".

He seemed sound to me. I should never have gone...because now my heart is
crying out to do everything possible to save him. The Amish man will not
take a penny under $500, and feels he could get more at the next sale
(?????????in that condition?).

I have until Monday to try to rally funds to save him. The man who went
with me last night to look at him refused to pay $500 - but I know he
would adopt him if we could raise the money needed.

This horse made over $70,000 before retiring at age 8. He is gentle and
kind - we gotta help him! Please let me know your thoughts!

AMISH Horse Destined for Kill Sale - HELP

We have a local Amish man whose father purchased a young Standardbred at
the Thorpe sale this past year. The horse is gentle and kind and willing,
but at great speeds begins to "gimp".

The horse was taken back to the track and the track vet to reevaluate the
condition that caused his retirement and some things were tried.

The horse still is "off" at high speeds. The Amish man does not believe
he will be a road horse and the horse will be sold to a kill buyer if we
do not find a place for him by Friday.
