The $1,000 is given to ASAP in memory of my Grandfather Howard H Johnson
Sr., a long time dairy farmer. He grew up in the Sparta, WI area and
regaled me with
many of his childhood stories of driving to town and church in the farm wagon
with draft horses. He was fascinated with our Standardbreds and for his
100th
birthday his great-granddaughter, my daughter, Elizabeth, gave him a cart
ride
with Johannas Flynin Star down the back roads near his rural country home in
Fulton, WI. Neighbors came out to take pictures and he regaled family and
friends for months about his cart ride. He passed away at age 101 in June
2010.
