Still Need Financial Help

Hello everyone!

We are so pleased to have been able to save Topville Dynamite.
We have not picked him up yet due to several issues:

1) Two donations that we counted on for his bail have not yet been received
2) ASAP needed to write a check to the quarantine person out east for the
lay-up on two kill lot horses who were saved due to others' contributions
3) We have a need for a vet call to inspect Dynamite, draw coggins, and
do health inspection within 10 days of his arrival at the farm.
4) We do not have physical room at our farm for Dynamite unless we place
a horse who is waiting for a home here.

MacDominant and Taz are the two most adoptable horses here, but so far no
one has committed to either. If you have room for either of these fine
boys, please let me know. Taz is recovering from an injury to his front
leg resulting in a bowed tendon. He was attacked by another gelding and
run into a panel, resulting in the injury. He needs TLC and someone
willing to wrap his leg on a daily basis.

Please let me know if you can help! Keep in mind, in just several weeks
we will be forced to bring back five horses from the donated pasture down
the road. We cannot afford to maintain all horses here and need your
help!

Putting a Face With A Name

We have identified the horse who is with an Amish man and destined for the
kill pen, given his present condition, unless we can purchase him.

Amish Horse Has Until Monday

I went to see Dynomite last night up at the Amish man's farm. He is
thin, and was recently in a buggy wreck (4 wheeler almost collided with
horse and buggy), so he has multiple scrapes and cuts all over him.

He has a kind and gentle eye, and really perked up when he saw me walking
towards him almost like he recognized me. He has bleached out being in
the sun, and one shoe has fallen off. Since he is not currently being
used he is "out to pasture".

He seemed sound to me. I should never have gone...because now my heart is
crying out to do everything possible to save him. The Amish man will not
take a penny under $500, and feels he could get more at the next sale
(?????????in that condition?).

I have until Monday to try to rally funds to save him. The man who went
with me last night to look at him refused to pay $500 - but I know he
would adopt him if we could raise the money needed.

This horse made over $70,000 before retiring at age 8. He is gentle and
kind - we gotta help him! Please let me know your thoughts!

AMISH Horse Destined for Kill Sale - HELP

We have a local Amish man whose father purchased a young Standardbred at
the Thorpe sale this past year. The horse is gentle and kind and willing,
but at great speeds begins to "gimp".

The horse was taken back to the track and the track vet to reevaluate the
condition that caused his retirement and some things were tried.

The horse still is "off" at high speeds. The Amish man does not believe
he will be a road horse and the horse will be sold to a kill buyer if we
do not find a place for him by Friday.

If you can help please let me know! Cell 608-792-5126....we don't have
much time.

ASAP Office Hours

Kids_and_remmie_cricket

I have been unable to attend to phone calls and many emails for ASAP since
my mother's death and my husband's grandfather's death.

We hope to be on track again this coming week.

Thank you for your continued patience. Grandpa's funeral was today and we
are still dealing with my mother's unexpected passing.

If you need immediate assistance, please email Carmen at realdog1@yahoo.com

URGENT: Status on Standardbreds in Kill Lot Out East - ASAP Needs Help!

5706987894_d9ed7d698f_m

This is what I received from a volunteer who lives in New York and spends
all of her free time trying to save horses destined for kill. This is the
situation with the three Standardbreds ASAP wants to help, but without
anyone to step up to foster, adopt, or assist financially, these horses
cannot be saved....

"The situation is as follows:

I. Bail funds

Of the 3 standardbreds that ASAP has submitted form for, Pine Hill Willie
has been
bailed out and arrived in QT with Elaine Greybill

Another one, Firstkin needs another $285 to complete bail (has $300 already),

Amish gelding is lagging behind with funds - need to urgently intensify
fundraising.
Firstkin and Amish gelding have to get out this week, it is their last
week when
they are a available.

II. Quarantine and health certificates for traveling.

Next, once their bail is secured, they have to arrive in QT for at least a
couple of
weeks to make sure that they are healthy and stand to travel.
Are you going to be finishing off quarantine at your farm, or they need to
have a
full 30 days prior to coming to you?

In order to come to WI, they will need to have valid health certificates,
that
cannot be issued right away. Here come the logistics of further actions on
the part
of ASAP: 1) quarantine - Elaine Greybill charges $10 per day and she is an
excellent
QT provider. I do hope that she has more room to take the other 2 horses
so that
they all will be in the same place. If not, there a a few other people
nearby, so
it is not the end of the world who do good QT jobs for $10-$15 a day. In
any case,
ASAP needs to be prepared to have funds for quarantine.

III. Traveling to (Wisconsin)

2) If the horses are healthy, and stand to travel in 2 weeks, providing
that they
can finish QT with ASAP, the final step would be to start looking into
shipping
options. This will include getting estimates from shippers and raising
necessary
funds to transport the horses. You should kmow more than me about your
fundraising
procedures of course than me; i do not know whether you work with any
particular
shipper or not; i may know of a couple that go in that direction.
Also, are these horses coming to WI or to your satellite farm in MI/IL
area? Elaine
Greybill may be going into this direction.

This is pretty much an outline of what needs to be done in order for the
horses to
arrive to ASAP - careful planning is needed. I hope that ASAP dealt with such
situations before and is prepared to take the challenge! Please let me
know what are
your thoughts here, and if i can be of any help besides helping to raise the
remaining bail, helping to arrange for QT and helping to research
transport options."

Heart of My Hearts

Mom_and_her_grandkids

I am sorry to let everyone know that yesterday morning at 12:45 my mother
went to be in heaven with my dad, my aunts, and my grandparents.

She had been med-flighted to Salt Lake City CCU/ICU and received top notch
medical treatment. She was stabilized and they had reduced two blood
pressure medications and turned down the intibater. When I left mom tried
to say something but could not. She squeezed my hand. I went back to the
motel and received a call after 12:30 am that mom's BP had dropped and
before they could attend to her she had slept away.

It has been a very difficult time - I thank you for your thoughts and
prayers as we travel across country back to Wisconsin to prepare for her
funeral and burial. I am truly now an orphan. Will keep everyone
updated.

Mom's Update

Chief

Last night was a very emotional night for me, as Craig traveled 11 hours
west from Rapid City SD to pick up my kids and take them home to Wisconsin
while I stayed behind at Evanston Wyoming hoping for mom to get better.

Although she appeared stronger in the morning, by lunch time she was
struggling to breathe and the hospital staff became alarmed that her
condition was deteriorating. It was determined that she should be med
flighted from Evanston, Wyoming to Salt Lake City Utah. I cannot tell you
the feeling I had to see my mother so anxious in her efforts to breathe,
and how afraid she was as they prepared to intibate her.

We watched her being taken to the helicopter and watched the med team fly
out, and away I had to speed, 72 miles further west instead of east.

Thankfully, mom is stabilized in the ICU/CCU unit at University of Utah. I am feeling very much alone, but supported by a family friend who opted
to stay back with me and travel to Salt Lake City as a support.
Please pray for us - I long to have mom home and be back at the farm
enjoying the young people who have so much fun with the horses and the
horses and having my family and I reunited!!!!! Will keep you posted.

Hospitalization/Delay

Hello everyone,

After a whirlwind tour of the west, a stay in sunny California and time of
reunion with close, lifelong friends in Las Vegas and rides on top of the
Stratosphere, my mother became ill along I-80 in Evanston Wyoming and
needed hospitalization.

I am currently staying in Evanston, and this is the 3rd or 4th day of our
extended stay. Please keep my mother in your prayers as she recovers from
a UTI, and pneumonia. We hope hope hope to be back on the road tomorrow
making our way back to Wisconsin.

If I do not respond to emails or phone calls in a timtely fashion, this is
why. I thank you so very much for your support!

Susan
