Please consider gifting any amount to ASAP this week as we step out to
help horses in need. DT has been dealing with a year-old injury to his rear leg and we felt we
never had the funds to have it radiographed. A veterinarian has agreed to
travel to us this Friday to have him evaluated in hopes that we can help
him be more sound. A trip charge is $45, then radiographs are $22 each,
and I believe $45 for exam. We need to raise at least $100 for DT alone
by Friday. Stylish Sharon has lost a great deal of weight while out on summer pasture
this year. We have brought her home and given her special feed, but she
is still not picking up weight despite deworming. We hope to be able to
have blood drawn on her to check her organ function. We also want to rule
out thyroid problems. Janimal has dropped weight suddenly these past three weeks. I have him in
a stall as we speak, giving him soaked hay cubes and special feed. He is
not sound in pasture - may have been kicked in the stifle area or hips. When he comes up the hill at feeding time it looks as though his back legs
are wobbly and weak. When being trimmed the farrier noted it was
difficult for him to hold up one leg while standing on another on both
sides. He was dewormed and we are keeping a close eye on him. He has
been with us for ten years now and is Rachel's special ambassador for
Standardbreds at all horse demos and parades. We are really worried about
him. Any gift is tax deductible........we really need your support! Sue
