We are looking forward to the weekend at Illinois Horse Fair this weekend. It looks as though (knock on wood) there will be no major blizzards to contend with! If Wisconsin is in the 40's as predicted, Springfield can only be at least five degrees warmer, right?
Special thanks to Judy and Jessie King for keeping watch over Girlie and her eight puppies while we are gone, and for feeding the horses. Thanks to Ethan for feeding and watering on Sunday. ASAP is continually blessed with local people making a difference for the horses while we are away.
I am enjoying a couple of weeks of sabbatical while waiting for my new career opportunity. It is unfortunate timing, as several things have acquired major glitches:
- our oven burner decided to explode last weekend while I was making chicken patties and fries for the kids. Luckily, it happened while we were at home - can only imagine what fear would have gripped the kids to see flames shooting out the oven door!
- one of our computers pretty much DIED. First the mouse quit working, then the keyboard, then the system. What do we do without our lifeline? Anyone who might have thoughts on where to acquire a good computer at a low cost please let me know
-having extra horses that we don't plan for at the farm has meant an increase in tank heating costs. Hopefully the warm weather will stick and we will no longer need the heaters!
-almost out of square bales and they are so handy for me to handle! We have large squares, but need more small squares for quick feeding and also to take to IL Horse Fair...............
On a good note,
Thanks to Ralph D. of Illinois for his recent donation of $200!
Thanks to Barb D. for her matching gift request from an employee giving program. It will mean $450 for ASAP in the near future!
*****Did you see the November issue of Hoofbeats Magazine? ASAP had a one page article written about them - thank you USTA!
Hopefully I will have my memory card reader connected and posting pictures yet this week!
