Saturday found us very busy at ASAP.
Thanks to Lori and Mike for their donation of 20+ doses of rabies vaccine, and 6 way vaccine!
Thanks to Ray and Alice for their $100 donation.
Thanks to Andrea for a $500 donation.
More thanks will be posted soon. We still anxiously await the decision on our $3000 "emergency" hay grant.
We now owe $3,300 for hay purchased since last winter. We have been
pulling money out of personal savings to pay for hay at this point. Another $1,000 just came out of our savings to cover expenses. The great
thing is more horses are finding homes, and there are potentially another
3-4 horses who may be finding their families in the next two weeks.
That is a great trend! Thank you to Betty from Globe University and hr friend who came on
Saturdya and assisted in vaccinated all ASAP horses. The also got a good
deworming! These volunteers are crucial to helping important things like
this get done. I had a great time getting to know them and they got a
kick out of me "cringing" every time I gave a vaccination! It did get
easier as we went along. There were no naughty patients, but then,
Standardbreds are known for their great tolerance of needles! Riding Sunday for Mother's Day at Yellow River was the best present I
could have received. It was picture perfect.
Ray and Alice competed in their first driving competition of the year and
placed first and second on Sunday - wow!!! Send me your news, and any ideas for a good fundraiser. More later. The
picture you see is of Penguin Beware, who belongs to Ray and Alice. More forms hope to be coming for applying for ownership of your STB after
two years of successful, responsible adoption. Check to see if you have
submitted your vet reports on a regular basis and can be eligible to
apply. Sue
